FitVia uses social networks to provide fitness accountability
Would you be more motivated to stay healthy if you always had a friend to work out with? I think we all would. Thanks to LaunchHouse Accelerator startup FitVia, working out alone is no longer an excuse. FitVia is an app that utilizes a person's social network to provide fitness calendar sharing and social fitness accountability among peers. Brandt Butze, FitVia co-founder, sat down with me to discuss the inspiration, mission and goals of FitVia as well as his perspective on Cleveland entrepreneurship as a Cleveland native. Listen to our conversation here!
Here are some of the key takeaways:
- Allow FitVia to connect to your social networks to immediately find like-minded workout partners
- Access a network of people who are committed to supporting one another more so than achieving individual goals
- Learn how FitVia started with one of Brandt's Facebook posts asking for walking partners
- Never worry about working out alone and becoming discouraged again!
About FitVia:
The dream: To see the FitVia on every single iPhone and Droid over the next couple years. They'd like to change the way people think about fitness and hear testimonies about how FitVia enhanced people's fitness routines and even saved lives!
Fun fact: "It's nice to be able to come to a place 24/7 and get a ping pong game in whenever you want." -Brandt
Why Cleveland is great for entrepreneurship: LaunchHouse enabled Brandt to make connections and build a business out of one phone call to our office. It gave him thousands of ideas, testing strategies and other resources.

None of these guys look like they work out or are fitness buffs, isn't that ironic? I could be totally wrong and these guys no their fitness and nutrition like no other, but I don't feel confident in that. Which makes me wonder how well do they understand the fitness culture, and what it truly means to be fit. To me that will have an impact on the product being developed.
